This is a case report of complication of V. P. shunt. Attention should be called to the rarity of this case. The authors suggest a possible cause of this complication.

Die Autoren berichten über eine außergewöhnliche Komplikation bei einem ventrikuloperitonealen Shunt, bei dem es zu einer vollstaändigen Verlagerung des peritonealen Katheters in das linke Seitenventrikel gekommen war.

Der wahrscheinliche Mechanismus dieser Komplikation wird diskutiert.
