Turner's Syndrome and Minor Brain Dysfunction – Neuropsychiatric Case Report on a 5œ Year Old Girl

Abstract

Case report of a 5œ year old girl suffering from TURNER's Syndrome and a neuropsychiatric disorder due to some specific neuropsychological, neuro-cognitional deficits. Discussion of the hypothesis that TURNER's Syndrome, due to the cytological defect, consists both of a varying number of often described physical malformations and a minor brain dysfunction with specific neuro-cognitional deficits in addition to the neurological symptoms. Secondary to this there may be found a variety of psychiatric symptoms due to environmental exchange.

Zusammenfassung

Fallstudie eines 5œ-jährigen Mädchens mit TURNER Syndrom und neuropsychiatrischen Symptomen auf der Basis einiger spezifischer, neuro-cognitiver Ausfälle. Diskussion der Hypothese, daß das TURNER Syndrom infolge des cytogenetischen Defektes sowohl aus einem Symptomenkomplex körperlicher Mißbildungen verschiedenen Ausmaßes als auch aus einer minimalen cerebralen Dysfunktion mit den bekannten neurologischen Befunden und speziellen kognitiven Ausfällen besteht. Als Sekundärsymptomatik kann ein wechselndes psychoreaktives Bild beobachtet werden.
