Abstract
Incorporation of 14C-leucine, in vivo, into proteins of hepatic subcellular fractions as well as into proteins of free and membrane-bound ribosomes differs in pregnant and non-pregnant mice. Protein synthesis in nuclear, mitochondrial, microsomal and postmicrosomal supernatant fractions of liver is enhanced during pregnancy. There is a five-fold increase in labelling of proteins of both free and membrane-bound ribosomes of liver of pregnant mice in comparison with that of non-pregnant mice.
