Peptides Obtained from Porcine Calcitonin After Degradation by a Human Plasma Fraction[*]
Publication History
Publication Date:

Abstract
A preparation was obtained from human plasma Cohn fraction IV-1 by chromatography on CM-Sephadex and Sephadex G-200 which reduced the hypocalcemic activity of porcine calcitonin. Neither human nor salmon calcitonin is affected by the preparation. After prolonged incubation of the material with porcine calcitonin the calcitonin was cleaved into four peptide fragments at the arginine residues. The peptides have been isolated and their amino acid composition determined. Salmon calcitonin remained intact.
