Antidiuretic Effect of Clofibrate in Therapy of Diabetes Insipidus
Publication History

Abstract
In fifteen cases of pitressin sensitive diabetes insipidus (seven secondary, and eight primary), the authors have studied the antidiuretic effect of Clofibrate therapy: this drug which has advantage of being devoid of any chronic toxicity as shown, before in large series of hyperlipidemic patients, was able to correct fully or satisfactorily the polyuria in nine cases, but had slight or no effect at all in six cases.
It seemed to be less effective in the most severe cases, especially in young children where the lack of endogenous ADH is suspected to be quite complete. Thus a synergistic action of Clofibrate and ADH is suggested in the antidiuretic effect of Clofibrate.
