Abstract

The effects of the diabetogenic drug alloxan on blood and urine levels of calcium within 24 hours after treatment were compared to those of parathyroid extract (PTE). Hypercalcemia and hypocalcuria followed PTE administration; by contrast, alloxan decreased blood calcium levels in both rats and mice, without affecting urinary calcium content.
