Preliminary Study of Perphenazine Enanthate in the Treatment of Chronic Schizophrenia

Summary

On 24 schizophrenic patients an investigation was made to compare the antipsychotic effect and side effects of fluphenazine enanthate and perphenazine enanthate. A small improvement concerning the antipsychotic effect in favour of perphenazine enanthate could be noticed. In seven variables concerning side effects perphenazine enanthate led to a significantly lower incidence than fluphenazine enanthate.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 24 chronischen schizophrenen Patienten wurden der antipsychotische Effekt und die Nebenwirkungen von Fluphenazine enanthate und Perphenazine enanthate verglichen. Der antipsychotische Effekt von Perphenazine enanthate war etwas besser. Bei Phenazine enanthate waren die Nebenwirkungen in sieben untersuchten Variablen signifikant geringer.
