Summary
Visualized by immunocytochemistry vasopressin and neurophysin are observed in perikarya of the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei and their fibers going to the neurohypophysis. In addition to these classical sites, vasopressin and neurophysin are located in perikarya of the organum vasculosum of the lamina terminalis and of the suprachiasmatic nuclei. Outside the hypothalamus, neurophysin-positive perikarya are found in the triangular nucleus of the septum which is a part of the limbic system. Vasopressin and neurophysin are contained in two types of extrahypothalamic fibers. Large caliber fibers are found in the amygdala, small caliber fibers in the septum and thalamus. The presence of neurosecretory perikarya and fibers outside the hypothalamus may be related to psychotropic effects of peptide hormones.
Zusammenfassung
Das Peptidneurohormon Vasopressin und dessen Trägerprotein Neurophysin können immunhistochemisch dargestellt werden in Perikarya der Nuclei supraoptici und paraventriculares und deren Fasern, die zur Neurohypophyse ziehen. Ferner werden Vasopressin und Neurophysin auch außerhalb des klassischen hypothalamo-neurohypophysären Systems gefunden: In Perikarya des Gefäßorgans der Lamina terminalis und der Nuclei suprachiasmatici. Außerhalb des Hypothalamus ist Neurophysin enthalten in Perikarya des Nucleus triangularis des Septum, einem Teil des Limbischen Systems. Vasopressin und Neurophysin kommen vor in 2 Arten von extrahypothalamischen Fasern. Dicke Fasern werden in den Amygdala, dünne Fasern in Septum und Thalamus gefunden. Möglicherweise besteht ein Zusammenhang zwischen neurosekretorischen Perikarya und Fasern, die mit der Hypophyse nicht in Verbindung stehen, und psychotropen Wirkungen von Peptidhormonen.
