Abstract
Calcium retention in a group of 12 patients with acromegaly was increased over that of controls when measured in a whole body counter 1 and 2 weeks after administration of a single oral dose of 47Ca with stable calcium carrier. The loss of 47Ca with the urine was also increased. These findings in acromegalic subjects are interpreted as demonstrating an increased calcium absorption from the intestine and an increased affinity of the tissues for calcium.
