Abstract

The paper chromatographic system of SPOLTER and MARX (1960) is applied to thin layer chromatography. With a formate buffer/isopropanol relationship of 60:40 satisfactory separation of the main urinary acid glycosaminoglycans can be achieved within 5 to 6 hours. Mucopolysaccharidoses types I + II, III, V, and VI may be identified using thin layer chromatography instead of the more time consuming column chromatography.
