Lymphatic Shunt: The Treatment of Hydrocephalus by Ventriculo-lymphatic Anastomosis

SUMMARY

The drainage of C.S.F. through lymphatic vessels seems to be a physiological way of curing hydrocephalus. It makes mechanical valves and inplantation of long foreign bodies superfluous: neither intraventricular hypertension, nor rapid emptying occurs. The technical details are given and an account of one case successfully treated by the method.

Le drainage du LCR vers des vaisseaux lymphatiques semble être un moyen physiologique de guérison de l'hydrocéphalie. Il rend superflu les valves mécaniques et l'implantation de corps étrangers d'une grande longueur. Il n'est suivi ni d'hypertension des ventricules ni de leur dépression rapide. Un exposé technique détaillé de la méthode est suivi d'un compterendu d'un cas traité avec succès.

Die Liquorableitung in das lymphatische System scheint eine physiologische Möglichkeit zur Behandlung des Hydrocephalus zu sein. Das Verfahren macht die Verwendung von mechanischen Ventilen und intravasale Implantationen langer Fremdkörper überflüssig. Intraventriculäre Hypertensionen oder zu rasche Entleerung kommen nicht vor. Die technischen Einzelheiten der Methode werden beschrieben, und ein erfolgreich behandelter Fall wird mitgeteilt.

La desviación del liquor hacia el sistema linfático aparece como una posibilidad fisiológica para el tratamiento del hidrocéfalo. El procedimiento hace innecesaria la utilización de válvulas mecánicas e implantaciones intravasales de largos cuerpos extraños. No aprarecen hipertensiones intraventriculares o vaciamientos demasiado rápidos. Se describen los detalles técnicos del método v se comunica un caso tratado con éxito.
