Summary
A more accurate histopathological diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma can be obtained if the surgeon, while doing endoscopic removal of the prostate, selects pieces for biopsy study from the dorsal portion of the gland near the capsule, from areas of soft tissue which may be encountered and from orange-yellow pieces. The stage of the malignancy and a prognosis can be more accurately estimated by receiving specific information on the pathology report as to the per cent of all the tissue which is malignant, the position in the prostate of the malignant pieces and the grade of malignancy (cell structure).
