Abstract
The phloroglucinol composition of Ctenitis apiciflora and C. nidus is being reported for the first time. Both species contain several fully aromatic compounds, particularly margaspidin and phloraspin, but C. apiciflora also contains phloropyrone, this being absent in C. nidus. The almost exclusive presence of fully aromatic bicyclic phloroglucinols in Ctenitis appears to be a taxonomic feature of the genus.
