Three turned out to be the previoulsy described senecinine, senkirkine and retrorsine. Spectroscopic investigations showed the structure of the fourth compound to be 5–hydroxy–3,4–dimethyl–hex–1–en–2,5–dicarbonyl–retronecine (senecivernine).
