Abstract
From the bark of Rhamnus frangula a new glycoside has been isolated and its structure elucidated as emodin–8–O–β–gentiobioside. The structure was confirmed by glycosidation of 6–O–benzoyl–emodin with α–acetobromgentiobiose in a Koenigs–Knorr reaction followed by saponification.
