Abstract
A high–performance liquid Chromatographie technique was developed for the detection of the major pentacyclic triterpenes in the button cactus, Epithelantha micromeris. It was possible to separate and identify the major pentacyclic triterpenes in extracts of this plant and the resolution of several other reference pentacyclic triterpenes was also achieved. The separations obtained with high–performance liquid chromatography were comparable to those observed with gas–liquid chromatography.
