Abstract
A histochemical test for the localisation of the latex vessels of Euphorbiaceae is established. When fixed in mercuric chloride solutions and stained with fluorescamme, the latex matrix emits a strong fluorescence. The parameters that influence the formation of the fluorescence image are discussed. The results obtained indicate that the Hg–fluorescamine reaction is an ideal fluorescent labelling method for collecting qualitative and analytical information on the differentiation of the laticiferous system.
