Abstract

We report in this communication the isolation of chrysophanol and bianthraquinone (4,4' ,5,5'-tetrahydroxy–2,2'-dimethyl, 1,1'-bianthraquinone) from the leaves of Cassia occidentalis. An earlier chemical investigation on the leaves [1] revealed the presence of two flavonoid glycosides.
