Abstract
Pharmacological studies of the total alkaloids isolated from the seeds, bark and leaves of Strychnos potatorum Linn, have been carried out. The alkaloids possess convulsant and marked hypotensive actions and also exhibit depressant effect on isolated heart. Diaboline, the major alkaloid, has also shown a potent hypotensive effect.
