DIE ANTICANDIDA WIRKUNG DER PRIMULA SAPONINE

Abstract

The anticandida action of a chromatographically pure saponine from Primula acaulis has been compared with that of the antibiotics Nistatin and Stamicin. The saponine had a similar activity as these two antibiotics both in vitro and in vivo. The saponine from Primula had a higher minimal inhibitory concentration and therefore a higher quantity in μg/ml was required for the mycocide effect, but it was very active also on some strains of Candida that were resistant to the action of the two mentioned antibiotics. The results were confirmed in clinical experiments too.
