Abstract

Partial acid hydrolysis of the galactomannan from Cassia fistula seeds afforded eight different sugars namely galactose, mannose, epimelibiose, galactomannobiose, mannobiose, mannotetraose, mannopentaose and mannohexaose. On the basis of the isolation of these sugars, breaking of the linkages in the galactomannan has been discussed.
