Abstract

Ether extract of the rootbark of Poterium spinosum, a plant used in folkloric medicine for treating diabetes mellitus, was screened for oncolytic activity. A crystalline material isolated from it is shown to exhibit oncolytic effect on sarcoma 180 ascites in mice, while an amorphous material obtained in the same extraction was devoid of anti-neoplastic activity.
