Abstract

13 different species of Rhodomelaceae are examined systematically to identify simple bromphenols. Proof and identification are established by GLC–MS–analysis of the pertrimethylsilyl derivatives. The occurence of the following substances was demonstrated : 3–bromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzaldehyde (1), 2,3–dibromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzaldehyde (2), 3–bromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzyl alcohol (3), 2,3–dibromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzylalcohol (Lanosol, 4), 2,3,6–tribromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzyl alcohol (5), 2,3–dibromo–4,5–dihydroxybenzyl-n-propyl ether (4c), 3–bromo–4–hydroxybenzyl alcohol (7), 3,5–dibromo–4–hydroxybenzyl alcohol (8) and lanosol–1',4–disulfate (6). The benzylethyl– and benzylmethyl ethers of 3 and 4 are artefacts. All substances – but not 6 – have antibiotic properties.

Zusammenfassung

13 verschiedene Rhodomelaceen–Arten werden systematisch auf das Vorkommen einfacher bromierter Phenole untersucht. Nachweis und Identifizierung der Pertrimethylsilylderivate erfolgte über eine GC–MS–Kombination.

Es wurden gefunden: 3–Brom–4,5–dihydroxybenzaldehyd (1), 2,3–Dibrom–4,5–dihydroxybenzaldehyd (2), 3–Brom–4,5–dihydroxybenzylalkohol (3), 2,3–Dibrom–4,5–dihydroxybenzylalkohol (Lanosol, 4), 2,3,6–Tribrom–4,5–dihydroxybenzylalkohol (5), 2,3–Dibrom–4,5–dihydroxybenzyl-n-propyläther (4c), 3–Brom–4–hydroxy benzylalkohol (7), 3,5–Dibrom–4–hydroxybenzylalkohol (8) und Lanosol–1',4–disulfat (6). Die den Alkoholen 3 und 4 entsprechenden Benzylmethyl– oder Benzyläthyläther sind Isolierungsartefakte. Bis auf 6 sind alle Verbindungen antibakteriell wirksam.
