Abstract
Gas–chromatographic analysis of the essential oil of five varieties of Lantana camara revealed quantitative and qualitative differences. Citral constitutes the main compound in the essential oil of each variety.
32 compounds were detected in L. c. var. aculeata and hybrida oil, while only 31, 29 and 21 compounds were detected in var. flava, nivea and mista respectively.
