Summary
The authors report on a midesophageal stricture in a 66 year old man. Hematemesis and melena required emergency-endoscopy, which revealed erosions in the midesophagus. The distal esophagus was lined by a high columnar epithelium. Attention is drawn to the importance of endoscopic-bioptic examination in cases of stenosis in the middle-third of the esophagus.
