Summary
Early cancer is not a pathological-anatomical diagnosis but a clinical entity meaning a not easily diagnosed carcinoma of the stomach.
Histologically one finds a carcinoma which is limited to the mucosa. The time-related term “early” does not necessarily belong to this process. “Early” should be correlated to the clinician's effort to recognize such lesions as soon as possible.
Key-Words
Early carcinoma - carcinoma in situ - intestinal metaplasia - early diagnosis of cancer
