Summary
Gastroscopy with inversion of the tip of the instrument is just a few years old. Inversion gastroscopy should be performed as the last procedure in examining the stomach. The method of inversion with the different models is described. Whenever the clinical or radiological diagnosis of a circumscribed lesion in the proximal third of the stomach or of achalasia is suggested inversion gastroscopy is indicated. The examination should be performed reluctantly in major processes of the greater curvature. Complications are rare, there were a few cases with problems in retracting the instrument after inversion.
