Study on Bronchoscopically Visible Cancer

Summary

A total of 316 cases with malignant bronchopulmonary growths were examined bronchoscopically and in 118 cases, visible tumors were found. These 118 cases were classified in the following four types from the bronchoscopical, roentgenological and pathological points of view:

  1. Localized primary bronchogenic type in 23 cases;

  2. Invasive primary bronchogenic type in 67 cases;

  3. Lymph node metastatic type in 26 cases; and

  4. Extrathoracic type in two cases. These bronchoscopically visible tumors are discussed below.
