Abstract

Three acidic triterpenoid aglycones (probably related to the oleanane series, designated genins A, B and C) have been obtained in pure state by acid hydrolysis of the natural glycosides of Cornulaca monacantha Del., an Egyptian desert plant. Genin A is shown to contain one each of double bond, hydroxyl group and carboxyl group. Genin B has an additional nonconjugated double bond and genin C differs from genin A in having an additional hydroxyl group.
