Abstract

The presence of six alkaloids were shown in the flowers of Genista lydia Boiss. Lupanine, retamine, N–methylcytisine were identified by IK spectra comparison of their picrates, as well as mixed melting points with standard sample picrates. Anagyrine was identified by TLC comparison using various solvent systems. A new alkaloid (C16H24O N2 • C6H3O7N3) was also isolated. Although som of its spectral and physical properties were given, due to the minor amount of the compound it was not identified. The sixth alkaloid was only a trace amount and unidentified.
