Abstract

A. orontium L. (Misopates orontium (L.) Raf.) has been found to contain seven tertiary alkaloidal bases. One has been identified as 4–ethyl–2, 6–naphthyridine, previously isolated from A. majus; a second compound has been assigned the structure C15H9N3O and some physical data is reported for a third base. Choline has also been identified and is the only quaternary base present.
