Summary

A systematic investigation of the local drug Cymbopogon proximus Stapf, led to the isolation of the crystalline active principle, m. p. 141–142°, which is responsible for its anti–spasmodic activity. A report is given on the preliminary chemical investigation of its nature and on its pharmacology.

Zusammenfassung

Aus den in der ägyptischen Volksmedizin seit langem benutzten Cymbopogon proximus wurde der für die antispasmolytische Wirkung verantwortliche Stoff kristallin isoliert und in pharmakologischen Versuchen getestet.
