Introduction
Egypt is a sub–tropical region of the „North African–Indian–Desert–Province”, covering an area close to one million square kilometres, between parallels 22° and 32°, north latitudes and between 25° and 35° east longitudes. It is an almost rainless desert country with the exception of the cultivated land irrigated by the Nile and the springs of the Libyan Oases covering an area of about 25,000 square kilometres. The inhabitants of the cultivated areas amount to about 22 millions.
