Summary
Experiments performed with submersal mycelial cultures of Claviceps purpurea from rye failed to demonstrate participation of succinic acid in the metabolism of the mycelia.
This indicates, that the strain used does not transform succinic acid. A cycle of organic acid of the Krebs type may be absent or does, at least, not use succinic acid added to the cultural fluid.
