Summary
The present communication gives a description of the isolation of a new quaternary base from Amanila muscaria L. besides choline, muscarine, acetylcholine and muscaridine. The constitution of this nitrogen compound is established as 3–butenyl–tnmethylammoniurnchloride. The synthesis started with butene–3–ol–1, which was esterified with p–toluenesulphonylchloride; the formed ester was treated with excess dimethylamine and the reaction product quaternized with methyliodide. The synthesized chloride was identical with the natural base.
