Niereninsuffizienz und renale Anämie - Belastende Symptomatik für Arzt und Patient

Patienten, die unter einer Niereninsuffizienz leiden, entwickeln im Verlauf ihrer Krankheit oft schon frühzeitig eine Anämie: Die geschädigte Niere produziert zu wenig Erythropoetin. Typische Symptome sind Schwäche und ein deutlicher Verlust der Vitalität. Aber auch die obstruktive Schlafapnoe sowie das Restless-Legs-Syndrom (RLS) treten bei Dialysepatienten gehäuft auf [1]. Inwieweit solche Schlafstörungen und der bei renaler Anämie erniedrigte Hb-Wert (Hb: Hämoglobin) miteinander assoziiert sind, wird derzeit im Rahmen einer epidemiologischen Untersuchung überprüft.
