Background
Traumatic macular hole (TMH) is a well-known complication of blunt trauma, but its exact mechanism remains unclear. Spontaneous closure of TMH is common, being reported to occur in 44 – 64 % of cases [4] [6]. We describe a case of spontaneous closure of a TMH with almost complete visual recovery and show that serial OCT imaging of the macular hole and the subretinal fluid is useful in gauging ultimate visual recovery.
