Zusammenfassung
Zum Studium der biologischen Eigenschaften maligner Geschwulstzellen wurden stromafreie Aszites-Tumoren gewählt, im vorliegenden Fall das Aszites-Hepatom. In diesen Untersuchungen wurden bei 400 weißen Ratten Hepatome der Leber durch Verfütterung von Azofarbstoffen erzeugt. 57 Hepatome konnten in die Aszites-Form umgeformt und durch fortgesetzte Transplantation, zum Teil in über 500 Generationen, weitergezüchtet werden. Die Aszites-Tumoren aus den Hepatomen zeigen konstant verschiedene Bilder. Es überwiegt entweder die Tendenz zum einzelligen oder zum Gruppen-Wachstum. Dabei können die Gruppen klein oder größer sein. Jedes Hepatom hat seinen eigenen Modus der Variation der Chromosomenzahl. Die verschiedenen Aszites-Hepatome zeigen in vivo und in vitro eine verschiedene Empfindlichkeit gegenüber N-Lost. Einzelne sind refraktär. Bei Einzelzellübertragung — aus dem Hepatom oder der Aszitesform — bleiben die biologischen Eigenschaften konstant. Bei einem Typ der Hepatomstämme steigerten sich die Transplantationsfähigkeit des Tumors und die Verkürzung der Lebensfrist der Tumortiere mit der Zahl der Tumordurchgänge. Bei einem anderen Typ waren die Transplantationsfähigkeit und die Lebensfrist der Tiere von Anfang an konstant. Bei einem dritten Typ nahmen die Transplantationsfähigkeit und die Lebensdauer der Tumortiere zu. Die Untersuchungen bewegen sich nicht auf der Ebene der Histopathologie, sondern auf der der Zytopathologie des Karzinoms.
Summary
Stroma-free ascites hepatoma was chosen to study the biological properties of malignant cells. Hepatoma was produced in 400 white rats by feeding them azo-dyes. 57 hepatomas were transformed into the ascites form and in several instances successfully transplanted as often as 500 generations. Ascites tumours which have developed from hepatomas have a tendency to grow either in single cells or in groups, which may be small or large. Every hepatoma has its own mode of variation in chromosome number. Both in vivo and in vitro, different ascites hepatomas show differing sensitivity towards nitrogen mustard: some are even refractory. Biological properties remain constant if single cells are transplanted either from a hepatoma or the ascites form. In one type of hepatoma strain, the transplantability of the tumour increases while the survival time decreases with the number of tumour passages. In another type, transplantability and survival time remain constant from the beginning. In a third type, transplantability and survival time both increase.

Para estudiar las características biológicas de las células tumorales malignas se escogieron tumores ascíticos sin estroma, el hepatoma ascítico en este caso. — Mediante la administración de colorantes azóicos se obtuvieron durante estas investigaciones hepatomas en 400 ratas blancas. 57 hepatomas pudieron ser transformados en la forma ascítica y conservarse a través de más de 500 generaciones mediante transplantes sucesivos. — Los tumores ascíticos de los hepatomas muestran cuadros distintos y constantes. Predomina unas veces la tendencia al crecimiento unicelular, otras el multicelular, de grupo, y los grupos pueden ser pequeños y grandes. — Cada hepatoma tiene su modo propio de variación del número de cromosomas. Los diferentes hepatomas ascíticos muestran tanto en vivo como en vitro una sensibilidad variable a las mostazas nitrogenadas. Algunos son refractarios. — Al trasplantar células aisladas — sean del hepatoma o de la forma ascítica — permanecen constantes las características biológicas. — En uno de los tipos de cepas de hepatoma aumentaba la susceptibilidad de transplantación y se reducía el tiempo de vida de los animales a medida que crecía el número de pases hecho con el tumor. — En otro tipo en cambio permanecían constantes la susceptibilidad de transplantación y la vida de los animales desde un principio. — En un tercer tipo aumentaban las posibilidades de transplantación del tumor, pero también se alargaba la vida del animal. — Las investigaciones no se redujeron al carácter histopatológico, sino se extendieron al de la citopatología del carcinoma.
