Zusammenfassung
Bei einer durch Zufallsverteilung zusammengestellten Gruppe von 26 Patienten mit inoperablen Bronchialkarzinomen ließ sich nach einer Kombinationsbehandlung mit 5-Fluoruracil (Dosis 15 mg/kg) und Röntgenstrahlen ein Anstieg der Überlebenszeit nachweisen. Periodisch durchgeführte Strahlentherapie kombiniert mit 5-Fluoruracil oder mit Cyclophosphamid (Endoxan® ) hatte bei 19 bzw. 15 Patienten mit inoperablem Bronchialkarzinom keine erkennbare Zunahme der Überlebenszeit zur Folge, Weiterhin wurden bei 50 durch Zufallsverteilung ausgewählten Patienten, welchen zusätzlich zur Strahlentherapie entweder 5-Fluoruracil (Dosis 10 mg/kg) oder 5-Jod-2'-desoxyuridin (Dosis 15/mg/Tag als Dauerinfusion) verabfolgt wurde, die Behandlungserfolge geprüft. Es ergab sich, daß bei der gewählten Dosierung 5-Jod-2'-desoxyuridin die Überlebensrate nicht beeinflußte. Über die Wirkung des 5-Fluoruracils läßt sich noch kein endgültiges Urteil abgeben; doch scheint die Verabreichung von 5-Fluoruracil auch bei der niedrigeren Dosierung zu höheren Überlebensraten zu führen, als sie nach alleiniger Strahlentherapie zu erwarten wären.
Summary
In a prospective randomized series of 26 patients with inoperable bronchogenic carcinoma, increased survival was demonstrated when the cytostatic drug 5-FU (5-fluoruracil; in a dose of 15 mg./kg.) was given in addition to X-ray therapy. — 19 patients with inoperable bronchogenic carcinoma received 5-FU (15 mg./kg.) in addition to split-course radiotherapy and 15 patients received cyclophosphamide in addition to split-course X-ray therapy: no increase in survival occurred. — In a prospectively randomized study of 50 patients treated with either 5-FU (10 mg./kg.) as an adjuvant to radiotherapy or 5-IUDR (5-iodo-2'-desoxyuridine; 15 mg./kg.) by continuous intravenous drip, it was noted that 5-IUDR did not increase the period of survival. The elapsed time since the completion of this study is insufficient to reach a definite conclusion on the value of 5-FU, when given at a dose of 10 mg./kg., but the impression has been gained that it increased the period of survival above that expected from treatment by X-radiation alone.

Tratamiento de carcinomas bronquiales inoperables por combinación de quimioterapia e irradiación
En un grupo de 26 enfermos con carcinomas bronquiales inoperables, compuesto por distribución casual, se pudo demostrar una subida del tiempo de supervivencia después de un tratamiento combinado con 5-fluoruracil (dosis 15 mgrs./kg.) y rayos X. Una radioterapia practicada periódicamente combinada con 5-fluoruracil o con ciclofosfamida (Endoxan® ) no tuvo en 19 ó 15 enfermos con carcinoma bronquial inoperable ningún aumento reconocible del tiempo de supervivencia. Se examinaron, además, los resultados de tratamiento en 50 enfermos seleccionados por distribución casual, a los cuales fué administrado como adición a la radioterapia ó 5-fluoruracil (dosis 10 mgrs./kg.) ó 5-yodo-2'-desoxiuridina (dosis 15 mgrs. diarios como infusión permanente). Resultó, que con la dosificación elegida la 5-yodo-2'-desoxiuridina no influyó en la cuota de supervivencia. Sobre el efecto de la 5-fluoruracila no se puede emitir todavía ningún juicio definitivo; parece, no obstante, que la administración de 5-fluoruracila conduce también con la dosificación más reducida a cuotas de supervivencia más altas de lo que habría que esperar después de la mera radioterapia.
