Die Lues-Diagnose ist nach wie vor eine klinische Diagnose, Laboratoriumsbefunde einschließlich des Nelson-Tests können nur diagnostische Hilfsmittel für den Kliniker sein. Summary

The Nelson test was employed and compared with other serological tests for syphilis in a large number of patients with various forms and at different stages of this disease. It was found that the Nelson test is of particular help in the diagnosis of the late stages of lues, whether treated or untreated, but inferior to the usual routine tests in the early stages. Falsepositive results were rare. It is concluded that the Nelson test is too complicated and expensive for routine examination, but of value as a supplemental examination in individual cases.
