In Abhängigkeit
Abstract
Striae distensae are a very common cosmetic problem. Since the introduction of evidence-based
medicine, knowledge about the prevention and treatment of striae distensae has increased.
Humoral, mechanical and genetic factors all play a crucial role in their formation.
Different treatment approaches have been reported to be effective, depending on the
extent of the striae distensae. Possible treatments include various cosmetic-type
local applications of dermatological creams as well as physical methods such as laser
therapy and, more recently, radio frequency ablation (thermage). For the prophylaxis,
externally applied products containing extracts from Centella asiatica have been found
to be suitable. More scientific studies are needed for the final clarification of
the pathophysiology and for the development of safe and standardized treatment approaches.
