Zwischen dem Bedarf und Angebot an geeigneten Spendern gibt es eine große Diskrepanz. Daher werden heute auch Organe zur Nierentransplantation (NTX) akzeptiert, die man noch vor 15 oder 20 Jahren abgelehnt hätte. "Ein Transplanteur kann es sich heute einfach nicht mehr erlauben, ein Organ per se abzulehnen, sondern muss zunächst sehr genau prüfen, ob es einen triftigen Grund dafür gibt", führte PD Dr. Johann Pratschke, Berlin, die Situation vor Augen. Bei der Transplantation marginaler Nieren sei das Nachsorgemanagement sehr wichtig. Denn mit jedem transplantierten Organ, das wieder verloren geht, werde die Warteliste noch länger.
