Introduction

Tracheal agenesis (TA) is a challenging clinical situation to manage in live born babies. As it is a rare entity, there are no clear cut recommendations on how to manage these neonates who offer very little time for assessment and intervention. The majority of the cases reported in the literature are either based on autopsy studies with the diagnosis made in retrospect [17] or the baby died in the early neonatal period [2] [10]. We report our experience with a neonate with tracheal agenesis; using our case as an example we present a review of the information on the anomaly available to date and of the management offered to the patients previously reported in the English literature over the past two decades.
