Abstract

Glucose can contribute to the fact, that a cancer cell becomes aggressive, when the energy in the cell is produced by fermentation and not by oxidation. In this process, the gene Transketolase-like-1 (TKTL1) is of vital importance: if cancer cells are TKTL1 positive, the energy is produced by fermentation, and the end product is lactic acid, which encourages among other things the growth of the cancerous ulcer and the formation of metastases. A change of diet and of lifestyle can counteract this process.

The article informs about the biochemical background, new diagnostic opportunities, as well as the nutrition principle according to Coy, which can help to actively respond to cancer.
