Gilbert J. Nolst Trenité
Publication History
Publication Date:
04 May 2009 (online)
Since 1983, Facial Plastic Surgery has been the monograph for our specialty. For more than 8 years, Gilbert J. Nolst Trenité has been a key force behind its success. During this time, Facial Plastic Surgery has strengthened its role as one of the leading sources for in-depth description of special techniques and new developments. Its structure of presenting one topic in each issue with an expert guest editor and invited specialists covering the full breadth of the topic has proved to be of great educational value for our readers. This will continue.
As time goes by, responsibilities have to be passed on. Dr. Trenité's many professional responsibilities (including his work for the EAFPS and IFFPSS) demand his time, and he has asked one of us (R.S.) to take over his duties as European Editor-in-Chief for this journal. This is a great honor and—though this will be difficult—we will continue to bring the same level of quality and expertise to Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Trenité's knowledge of, engagement in, and foresight regarding our specialty will have long-standing benefits for Facial Plastic Surgery. In the name of our readers, we would like to thank him for his tremendous efforts.
With change comes opportunity. While keeping the general concept of this journal, we will explore additional sections and features, and we welcome your feedback as to how these meet your needs. Over the coming months and years, we will offer supplemental, Web-based videos of the latest surgical techniques for our subscribers. As the official journal of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, we also plan to integrate the “EAFPS Newsletter” into this journal. We will include experienced and respected leaders in our field demonstrating selected, fine details in a “Masters Techniques Section.” Finally, we will begin to offer Internet-based Continuing Medical Education credit for the knowledge and information presented in our issues.
We hope that you, dear reader, will stay with us and will continue to benefit from our journal for your profession and your daily work.
