Wunschziel bei der Diagnose von Herzerkrankungen ist ein kardialer Biomarker, der es ermöglicht, eine sichere Früherkennung von Herzpatienten zu gewährleisten. Während beim Menschen der Einsatz kardialer Biomarker zur Differenzierung respiratorisch oder kardial bedingter Dyspnoe bereits zum Standard gehört, wird in der Tiermedizin in den letzten Jahren untersucht, ob es Korrelationen zwischen Herzinsuffizienz und Biomarkern bei Hund und Katze gibt.
