Intravenöse Applikation von Methadon

Zusammenfassung

Anliegen: Methadonlösung wird von Patienten immer wieder i. v. injiziert, obwohl verschiedene galenische Darreichungsformen entwickelt wurden, die eine solche Verwendung verhindern sollten.

Methode: Es wird der Fall eines Patienten dargestellt, der Methadon-Suppositorien intravenös applizierte.

Ergebnisse: Die i. v. Applikation führte zu einem Abszess, der nach adäquater Behandlung komplikationslos ausheilte.

Schlussfolgerung: Gewarnt werden soll anhand dieses Beispiels vor der Meinung, allein mit galenischen „Tricks” könne eine adäquate Verwendung eines verschriebenen Medikamentes garantiert werden.

Abstract

Objective: Methadone is often prescribed in a galenic preparation aiming to prevent an IV application.

Method: We describe here the case of a patient, who even intravenously administered his methadone that had been prescribed as suppositories.

Results: This IV application led to the formation of an abscess that healed completely after an adequate intervention.

Conclusion: We advise against the opinion that an adequate use of a prescribed medication might be guaranteed solely by its galenics.
