Introduction
Optic pathway gliomas (OPG) represent approximately 3–5% of all pediatric intracranial tumors and usually occur in 15–20% of patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Although these tumors are general low-grade gliomas, clinical course maybe unpredictable (Rosser T et al., J Child Neurol 2002; 17: 630–637). In sporadic gliomas there is usually an earlier and more aggressive presentation than NF1 OPG (Singhal S et al., Arch Dis Child. 2002; 87: 65–70). On follow-up, radiologic progression, visual deterioration, and endocrinologic complications are more often in sporadic gliomas (Czyzyk E et al., J Child Neurol 2003; 18: 471–478). Herewith we present a case of an OPG in a 3-year-old child with a good partial response to chemotherapy alone.
