Nahrungsmittelallergien: Bedeutung, Schnittstellen und Perspektiven der HNO-Heilkunde

Zusammenfassung

Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen gegenüber Nahrungsmitteln nehmen in den westlichen Industrienationen stetig zu. In der täglichen Praxis werden auch HNO-Ärzte zunehmend vor die Herausforderung gestellt, subjektiv berichtete Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen zu systematisieren, im Kontext otorhinolaryngologischer Symptome zu bewerten, eine gezielte und adäquate Diagnostik und gegebenenfalls Therapie einzuleiten. Obwohl ein Großteil berichteter Überempfindlichkeitsreaktionen auf Nahrungsmittel nicht objektiv verifiziert und kausal mit berichteten Symptomen in Beziehung gesetzt werden kann, gibt die aktuelle Literatur Belege, Hinweise und Perspektiven für einzelne Beschwerdebilder in der HNO-Heilkunde. Die vorliegende Übersichtsarbeit hat zum Ziel, den aktuellen Stand der Literatur zur Bedeutung von Nahrungsmittelallergien für die HNO-Heilkunde aufzunehmen und hierdurch eine Hilfestellung für die Bewertung dieser komplexen Thematik in der Praxis zu geben.

Abstract

Food Allergies: Significance, Interfaces, and Prospects in Otorhinolaryngology

Perceived and objective food hypersensitivity reactions are increasing steadily in the western countries. Therfore, otorhinolaryngolgists are facing more frequently the challenge to evaluate individual food hypersensitivity reactions, to set these reactions into context with otorhinolaryngologic symptoms and to start systemic and appropriate diagnostic procedures and possibly therapy. Although a good portion of the perceived food hypersensitivity reactions can neither be objectivated nor causaly linked to the occuring symptoms, the recent literature provides documentation, suggestions and prospects for the link between food hypersensitivity reactions and distinct ENT-diseases. Based on that, this review intends to provide an overview of the current knowledge about the impact of food hypersensitivity reactions on otorhinolaryngologic diseases. The aim of the article is to give support in assessing this intricate issue in the daily otorhinolaryngological practice.
