Biosimilars in der Anämietherapie – Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von Epoetin zeta in klinischen Studien belegt

Als Biosimilars ("similar biological medicinal products") werden Nachfolgeprodukte gentechnisch hergestellter Proteine bezeichnet. Sie erhalten dann von der europäischen Arzneimittelbehörde EMA eine Genehmigung zur Vermarktung, wenn sie in einem aufwendigen Zulassungsverfahren bewiesen haben, dass ihre Qualität, Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit mit dem Referenzprodukt vergleichbar ist. Zur Anämiekorrektur stehen seit 2007 Epoetin-Biosimilars als Alternative zu den Originalpräparaten zur Verfügung, wie Epoetin zeta, das in einem großen Studienprogramm geprüft wurde.
